At Most Venerable Phra Prom Mongkol Vi´s (Venerable Phra Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo) suggestion, Vipassanā meditation courses shall be conducted in a small hamlet in the province of Brandenburg and its surroundings. The aim is to establish a permanent Vipassanā meditation center.
The project has been named by Most Venerable Phra Prom Mongkol Vi (Venerable Phra Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo) as Dhammanikhom Vipassanā-Meditationszentrum.
Dhammanikhom describes a community of persons, who come together to live and practice the Dhamma together. It can be translated as a Dhamma community or related to the place as Dhamma settlement.
Dhamma is the Teaching of the Buddha.
Nikhom (= Thai) or Nigama (= Pali) means community, settlement, colony, also meeting place, market or small town. It describes a hamlet which is bigger than a village and which has a market place or is a market.
